![]() ![]() ![]() The end of the year is a time of reflection a time to remember the game systems that did not make it. So you had some interesting choices when choosing buildings: should I build a War Hall for cavalry, a Temple for mana and priests, or a Henge for growth? What if I haven't built an AD Dolmen yet, how does that change the calculus? Or should I be casting Fertile Domain instead of building the Henge at all?Įcho this for the various classes and their macro friendly city spells: Plague of Undead, Paid Absolution/Beacon of Faith, etc.Hi there! In this week's journal, we take a look at Planetfall’s Covert Ops and Doctrine systems. ![]() Instead you have to balance mana, gold, growth, and production speed so as to have smooth growth of the right kind. The key concept here is that you don't have "gold producing gold" in a runaway feedback loop. I play a lot of Druid in AoW3, and a major breakthrough for my play was when I learned how to assess the situation and choose when/if/which to build shrines, merchandise, henges, temples, war halls, and megaliths. ![]() Where I do worry a bit is the production end. If you removed Vespene Gas from Starcraft, Zerglings would still see play, even late game. As long as every game element is the best at something (and the definition of "best" may include "most efficient at a certain price point/with x lead time"), then everything can have a place. I don't worry so much about one choice pushing others out. ![]()
